The administration of Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University, as part of the Kazakh delegation, attended one of the world’s largest educational exhibitions – Bett Show, which took place in London. They returned home with an interesting proposal – the possibility of opening a branch of the University of Exeter at their institution.
“It is pleasant to note that for the first time in 40 years, Kazakhstan was able to present its national pavilion at one of the largest international educational exhibitions – Bett Show, held from January 23 to 25 in the United Kingdom. During the exhibition, Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University received a proposal regarding the opening of a branch of the University of Exeter – one of the leading higher education institutions in the UK. However, at this stage, it remains a preliminary verbal agreement. But we hope that after a detailed discussion, this will be formalized through an official agreement and subsequent implementation,” commented Saule Sagintayeva, Chair of the Board – Rector of KarTU named after A. Saginov.
She noted that the potential international partner is ranked among the top 15 universities in the UK according to the 2025 Complete University Guide and is listed in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025 rankings. It is also in the top 10 of the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings.
“I would like to particularly highlight that the University of Exeter is dedicated to delivering high-quality education and is one of the few Russell Group universities to have received the prestigious triple gold rating from the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF 2023),” added Saule Sagintayeva. “We are always pleased with such useful and mutually beneficial cooperation with other international partners. Moreover, our university, which is among the leading technical universities in the country, has much to offer to colleagues from around the world.”
The University of Exeter is a multidisciplinary British university with a long history. It was founded in 1855. Today, it educates students from different countries worldwide.
