Department of “Information Technology and Security”
The Department of Information Technology and Security was established in 1960 as “Applied Mechanics”. The first head was Associate professor, Candidate of Technical Sciences I.L. Derevinsky.
Since 2001, the department has been one of the first in Kazakhstan to train specialists in the field of information security.
The Department of Information Technology and Security today is the computer–aided design of computer technologies, information systems, new machines, and modern industry technologies.
The Department of Information Technology and Security trains highly qualified specialists in the field of information security, programming and modern IT technologies. The main focus is on cybersecurity, data protection, development and administration of information systems.
Under the leadership of Murat Galiaskarovich Kozhanov, the department actively develops scientific research, cooperates with IT companies and government agencies, and also introduces modern educational technologies. Students gain not only theoretical knowledge, but also practical experience working on real projects.
The Department of Information Technology and Security actively participates in scientific conferences and seminars, contributing to the development of the IT industry in the region. Teachers and students regularly publish scientific articles in domestic and international journals, sharing the results of their research.
In addition, the department maintains close ties with graduates, many of whom hold leading positions in IT companies and government agencies. This collaboration helps to update academic programs and provides students with internship and employment opportunities.
The department also organizes various events such as hackathons, seminars, and workshops, inviting industry experts to share their experiences and knowledge with students.
