What explains the high demand for graduates of Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University? The answer is simple – high-quality training of specialists. Without diminishing the accomplishments of the faculty, it should be emphasized that a major role in this is played by the practical experience students gain directly in production. Additionally, regular excursions to enterprises are organized for them, so they can get a fuller understanding of their future work.
For example, recently, Dilnara Baimuratova, a student of group GPR-24-2 at Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University, visited the Aktogay copper deposit in the Semipalatinsk region, as part of a Brand Ambassador program by Kaz Minerals. The company paid for travel expenses and provided accommodation in the Turan shift town.
“The company’s employees were very welcoming to me and the other students,” Dilnara shares her impressions. “We liked everything – both the attitude of the management and staff, and the organization of work at the enterprise.”
To begin with, Dilnara and students from other cities were introduced to the training facility where the company’s employees are trained. Then, they were provided with work uniforms and personal protective equipment and were briefed on safety procedures. In the training room, they were given VR glasses, through which they assembled a pump for the oxide and sulfide plants.
But what left the biggest impression was the open-pit mine. Here, the students saw how earth is transported, a Hitachi drilling rig is installed, and other operations are carried out.
On the second day, the students were introduced to the oxide plant, where they were given a detailed explanation of how copper is crushed in mills and undergoes further processing.
After visiting the oxide plant, they toured the sulfide plant, where they observed the step-by-step copper processing, which takes place with a high level of automation. Special attention was given to safety procedures.
The visit to the enterprises enriched Dilnara with new knowledge and gave her a more complete understanding of working in the mining and metallurgy industry.
