In July 2023, the Compliance Service of the University held a survey among university employees on the topic “Studying the level of knowledge and awareness of employees of “Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University” on anti-corruption restrictions and settlement of conflicts of interests”.
The survey consisted of questions on the provisions of the following internal documents of the University: Anti-Corruption Policy, Policy on Identification and Settlement of Conflicts of Interests, Code of Business Ethics, Anti-Corruption Standard, Standard for Exclusion of Conflicts of Interests, Anti-Corruption Instructions.
According to the results of the survey, it was found that the level of knowledge and awareness of university employees about anti-corruption restrictions and conflict of interest resolution corresponds to the average level.
In the 2022-2023 academic year, the heads of structural divisions held sessions/meetings to familiarize and highlight the provisions of the Policy on Identifying and Resolving Conflicts of Interests and the Standard for Excluding Conflicts of Interest (95% of respondents indicated), the Anti-Corruption Policy, the Anti-Corruption Standard and Anti-Corruption Instructions (more than 97% of respondents indicated), the Code of Business Ethics (indicated 96.8% of respondents). This indicates the implementation of the orders of the university’s management on combating corruption.
However, it should be noted that only 48.5% of respondents have a correct understanding of what a conflict of interest is, 57.8% of respondents fully understand what can be the subject of a bribe.
In this regard, the heads of structural divisions need to strengthen the promotion of the norms of anti-corruption documents of the university (policies, standards, instructions and the Code of Business Ethics).
