On September 12, a meeting of the first-year doctoral students with representatives of the University administration was held at Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University.


This year, 39 doctoral students were admitted to the University. That meeting was an important step for young scientists who are just starting their path in science, in their integration into the University life and the beginning of research activities.

Member of the Board, Vice-Rector for Research A.D. Mekhtiyev congratulated all the doctoral students on admission, wished them success in their upcoming research and expressed confidence that their achievements would make a significant contribution to the development of the University and the country. He met with each doctoral student, discussed their research work, supervisors and plans for the future. Doctoral students spoke about the significance of their research and supervisors, and asked questions to representatives of the administration. In turn, representatives of the administration spoke about the responsibilities of doctoral students, the procedure for submitting reports, working with supervisors and foreign consultants, and introduced the issues related to visas and financing. During the event, Member of the Board, Vice-Rector for Educational Work A.K. Kalykov noted that the University had formed all the conditions for revealing the scientific potential of doctoral students and emphasized that that academic period would be an important milestone in their professional development. He also reported that the first person to defend a doctoral dissertation would receive a special gift from the University.

Head of the Postgraduate Education Department L.M. Sultanova emphasized that the University would provide maximum support to doctoral students and made a special presentation. It outlined in detail the structure of educational programs, class schedule, practice, organization of scientific research and the main requirements for doctoral students.

Director of the Science and Innovation Department B.D. Suleyev called on doctoral students to participate actively in research projects and answered their questions.

Head of the Career Growth Center G.Zh. Alina familiarized doctoral students with their responsibilities for working off and with the relevant rules. The University librarians also expressed their willingness to provide them with all possible assistance on their part and provided the opportunity to download the necessary literature online.

The meeting had a significant impact on the motivation of young scientists to study and will contribute to a more conscious definition of their scientific preferences.
