November 17, 2023 Acting Head of the Department of CST Kaliaskarov N.B. conducted a scientific seminar on the topic “Publication of articles in scientific journals and registration of patents of the Republic of Kazakhstan” for undergraduate students of the educational program “Radio Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications”.
This seminar has become traditionally an annual event, the purpose of which is to familiarize students with scientific journals, requirements, databases and the procedure for submitting articles. The speaker announced the division of journals according to the databases Scopus, Web of Sciences, KazBC, RISC, RSCI and journals recommended by the Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education (KOKSNVO). The definition of quartiles and percentiles was explained to students, a response was received based on the author’s individual identifier and links to ORCID.
On the registration of patents, the speaker provides information on the structure of a patent, the necessary documents for filing a patent and information on how to correctly conduct a patent review on the official registers of the patent database.
For journals recommended by the Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education, a list of publications and scientific works is presented that are equivalent to this list today. Links to Scimagojr, Scopus, Web of Sciences and KOKSNVO are provided. Additionally, information is provided on the structure of a scientific article, which consists of the following sections: abstract; introduction; analysis of literature data and problem statement; purpose and objectives of the study; materials and research methods; research results; the discussion of the results; conclusions; literature. For each section, the speaker explained the key competencies, definitions and recommendations for correctly writing an article.
The seminar was attended by 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students wishing to enter the scientific and pedagogical direction of the master’s program in the future and their curators.
