The formation and development of a language close to the modern Kazakh language took place in the XIII-XIV centuries. One of the oldest types of alphabetic writing is the ancient Turkic writing, which arose in the 6th-7th centuries. Arabic writing was used in Central Asia and Kazakhstan in religious and secular schools, in official correspondence. In Kazakhstan, the Arabic script was used for 900 years from the 10th to the 20th centuries.
All the achievements of the people over the centuries are recognized through the heritage of writing. In this regard, the name of Akhmet Baitursynov, the first founder of the history of Kazakh writing, the father of Kazakh linguistics, is respectfully mentioned. In 1912, Akhmet Baitursynov reformed the Kazakh script on the basis of the Arabic script, making it possible for millions of Kazakhs living abroad to use it. He excluded all purely Arabic letters not used in the Kazakh language and added letters specific to the Kazakh language. The new alphabet, called “Zhana emle” (“New spelling”), is still used by Kazakhs living in China, Afghanistan, Iran. After 1917, a movement began in Kazakhstan to switch to the Latin alphabet.
This year marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of the teacher of the nation Akhmet Baitursynov. He is, firstly, a teacher who worked on teaching Kazakh children in their native language, the author of the first textbook “Alippe”, secondly, a major publicist, public figure, covering all aspects of Kazakh public life, and thirdly, an artist-poet, scientist , who also studied literature and a unique person who reformed the Arabic script and raised it to the national level so that the people could read and write quickly.
