Last Saturday, March 29, the regional stage of the “Chinese Language Bridge” contest took place at Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University. The contest was held for three age categories: schoolchildren aged 6 to 11 years, 12 to 17 years, and university students.
According to the rules of the competition, which involved participants from China, the youngest contestants were required to prepare a six-minute speech on the topic “Chinese Language, Fun, and Entertainment.” As for the older participants and students, they had to go through two stages. In the first stage, they answered 50 questions about the geography, history, economy, and culture of China within 25 minutes, followed by a personal introduction and a creative performance.
Whether it is related to the remarkable achievements in the socio-economic development of China, the development and strengthening of cooperation with our neighboring country, or other factors, or a combination of them all, the growing interest in China, its culture, and language is evident. Participation in the regional contest was further proof of this. There were plenty of participants, both among schoolchildren and students.
The contestants impressed not only with their language skills but also with their answers to questions about various aspects of life in China. Among the youngest participants, the winners were: Mansur Mansurov – 1st place, Dariya Slyuchenko – 2nd place, Kamila Sharipova – 3rd place
In the second age group, the winners were: Eva Kuznetsova – 1st place, Alina Amanzholova – 2nd place, Alexey Bocharnikov – 3rd place
Among the university students, the best results were achieved by: Nikita Slinko – 1st place, Karlygash Gazizova – 2nd place, Sayida Meyramova – 3rd place
It is worth noting that all three are students of our Confucius Institute. This is a significant achievement, largely thanks to the efforts of the director of the Confucius Institute, Tatiana Filippova.
