Karaganda branch of National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan operates on the basis of Karaganda State Technical University.
The branch is managed by the rector of KSTU, doctor of technical sciences, academician Ibatov Marat Kenesovich.
For the fifth contest by National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Best Engineer of the Year 2019” 3 candidates were submitted from Karaganda branch: Kim S.P., Kulikov V.Yu. and Kalinin A.A.
Among 70 applicants, 5 people became laureates of the title in the Republic of Kazakhstan, of which two were representatives from Karaganda branch of NEA of RK: Kulikov Vitaliy Yuryevich, c.t.s., acting head of Nanotechnology and Metallurgy department of KSTU and Kim Sergey Pаvlovich, c.t.s., vice-president for production of “Shubarkol Komir” JSC.
Kulikov V.Yu. for the first time developed a method of manufacturing shell casting molds using transient load during shaping. As part of this work, the optimal composition and concentration of the main and auxiliary components of the mixture were selected, which allowed to reduce the content of expensive resin by 20%. Solutions were prepared to improve the sanitary-hygienic situation at the workplace of a moulder by using gas withdrawal generated during melting.
Kim S.P. has diversified production for deep coal processing, is the initiator and manager of several identical projects. Among them: the construction of the first Kazakhstan plant for the production of special coke from non-coking coal with a capacity of 210 thousand tons per year; the construction of the first associated coke gas power plant in the CIS using gas piston machines technology with an installed capacity of 2 MW; the construction of the first in Kazakhstan production for manufacturing activated carbon based on coal with a capacity of up to 1000 tons.
