Memory of the scientist and teacher was immortalized at the Abylkas Saginov University


Recently, the presentation of a book of memory and the installation of a memorial plaque dedicated to the talented teacher, scientist, and public figure Yuri Dmitrievich Obukhov took place at the Abylkas Saginov KTU. Thus, the memory of a man who devoted his whole life to the training of highly qualified specialists and science was perpetuated.

“A man does not die on the day of death, but when he is forgotten” said Tokmirza Intykov, Ph.D., Professor of the Department of Transport Engineering and Logistics Systems, speaking about his colleague, close friend. Now, with the installation of a memorial plaque, the publication of a book, coupled with his scientific legacy, there is no doubt that he will live in the hearts of grateful descendants as long as our university exists.

Colleagues and friends gathered for the presentation of the book of memory – advisor to the Rector, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor M. Ibatov; Candidate of Technical Sciences, Professor T. Intykov; Ph.D., Professor I. Arystan; Head of the Research department of “His Prof” LLP D. Vydrin; Candidate of Technical Sciences, Professor K. Kyzirov; Chairman of the Karaganda regional organization of the Professional Union of Workers of Education, Science and Higher Education A. Rakisheva; Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor F. Nizametdinov and daughter of Yuri Dmitrievich A. Kiselyova shared their memories.

And everyone had something to remember … Yuri Dmitrievich went through a glorious career. In 1963, after graduating from the Karaganda Polytechnic Institute, he worked his way up from a trainee teacher to a professor, head of the departments of “Mine Aerology and Occupational Safety”, “Industrial Ecology and Chemistry”, dean of the geoecological and mining faculties. He was chairman of the trade union committee, secretary of the Institute’s party committee, university Ethics Councils and veterans. Being a talented teacher, a fruitful scientist and an effective leader, he has educated more than one generation of highly qualified specialists. He is the author of more than 320 scientific papers, textbooks and teaching aids. His contribution to the development of Kazakh science and education was marked by a number of state and departmental awards: “Veteran of Labor”, “Honorary Worker of Education”, “Excellent Student in Ecology”, signs of “Miner’s Glory” of three degrees, etc. According to the unanimous opinion of all people who knew Yuri Dmitrievich, he was also always the soul of informal communication with colleagues.

According to these memories, one can imagine the image of a cheerful person, passionate about science and teaching, infecting others with his energy. It should be noted that almost all the participants of the presentation acted as sponsors of the preparation of the book of memory and the memorial plaque.

The board was installed on the same day in the second academic building, at the entrance to the 504 auditorium, where Professor Obukhov lectured. Dean of the Faculty of Mines, Associate Professor N. Zholmagambetov; Chairman of the Karaganda Regional Council of Veterans G. Tuyakov; Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor S. Ozhigin; Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor V. Demin; Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor B. Glotov; Dean of the Chemical Faculty of the Karaganda Research University named after Academician E. A. Buketov, Doctor of Economics, Professor M. Ibraev took part in the solemn ceremony of installing the memorial plaque.

Yuri Dmitrievich’s daughter, A. Kiselyova, who spoke on behalf of her family and friends, expressed deep gratitude to the university management and all those who took part in the publication of the book of memory and the installation of a memorial plaque.
