International Surveying Forum was held in KSTU


14 September 2017, on the basis of Karaganda State Technical University was held the International Surveying Conference on theme “Innovative technologies in geodesy, mine surveying and geotechnics”. Scientists and manufacturers from a number of countries of Central Asia, Eastern and Western Europe met to exchange experiences and discuss problems and prospects of development of surveying and the entire mining industry.

Rector of Karaganda State Technical University, professor M.K. Ibatov emphasized the importance of this event and the need for further international cooperation.

President of the International Surveying Community (ISM) – A.L. Okhotin, who took part in the forum, thanked the University administration and announced the downward trend in the number of professionals associated with implementation of the measuring instruments of new generation and almost complete automation of measurements during geodetic and surveying works. A.L. Okhotin focused on the fact that surveyors and surveyors of the new time, you must have strong analytical skills to using the latest devices and instruments at the appropriate level to handle the rapidly increasing volumes of information.

The next stage of the forum was the exhibition of surveying and geodetic equipment, where they presented laser-digital levels and total stations, 3D scanners, latest satellite positioning system (GPS). In addition, foreign companies such as Leica Geosystems (Switzerland), TRE Altamira (Spain and Italy) and Sovzond (Russia) presented their produced modern measuring equipment.

In the framework of the forum was held Kazakhstan Surveyors Union of Kazakhstan, organized for the second time by President of the NGO “Kazakhstan Surveyors Union”, professor of KSTU – Farit Kamalovich Nizametdinov. In the agenda of the Congress was included a review of regulatory documents concerning tolerance in the course of surveying and special geomechanical study of the massif: “Instructions for the production of surveying works” and “Rules on ensuring stability of slopes ledges of the quarries and coal mines sides”. F.K. Nizametdinov laid emphasis that the need for revision of these documents is directly related to the changed realities in the field of surveying and geodetic works.

The audience noted that during the forum and the Congress, all the goals were achieved and effective work was done.

Professor of Irkutsk National research technical University (Russia, Irkutsk) Anatoly Okhotin was elected as President of Surveying International society (International Society for Mine Surveying) at the XVI World Congress of the ISM, which was held on 12-16 September 2016 in Brisbane (Australia).
