The department of «Nanotechnology and metallurgy»
Department of Nanotechnology and Metallurgy in honor of EI Shevtsova
History of the Nanotechnology and Metallurgy “has its origins in 1954 when, in the Karaganda Mining Institute, a year after its opening was created Department of Technology of Metals”, intended to teach a number of technical disciplines. Worked at the department professors, PhD. Tekhn. Science Derevinskaya IL, Kretschmer, VG, Rakov SS The organizer of the department and its permanent head for the next 32 years was Shevtsov, Evgeniy, a major engineer-steel workers who worked in the prewar years in the steel-making shop of the Stalingrad Tractor Factory, in 1942 seconded to the construction of the Kazakh steel plant in Temirtau. With the launch of open-hearth shop in 1945, Evgeny worked as his chief, from 1952 was head of technical department of the plant. In 1954, after defending his doctoral dissertation, he was invited to a teaching job in Karaganda Mining Institute, where he worked for 40 years. Shevtsov, EI did much for the training of engineers, as well as for the formation of teaching staff of the department foundry in Karaganda and Pavlodar Temirtau.
Professor Shevtsov, Evgeniy
In 1964, the Department of Technology of Metals was transformed into the department” Foundry engineering and metal technology, because it was responsible for training of engineers-casters. The first set on a speciality Foundry of ferrous and nonferrous metals in KarPTI was implemented in 1961. The opening of training in this specialty, and several other engineering specialties profile was also motivated by an acute staffing “hunger” to rapidly growing enterprises in the 60 years of engineering complex in Kazakhstan, which has already been met with difficulty due to graduate from the European part of the country.
NA Nazarbayev was trained for three years at the group PL-62-2,– The first President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Preparation of the engineering staff at the time was carried out according to the “journals-vecherniki”, within two years students have studied and worked at work. He manifested such qualities as fairness, honesty, comradely mutual assistance and the ability to persuade in his student years. He was highly respected by fellow students. Nursultan Nazarbayev was the commander of student construction team, took an active part in public affairs department and the institute. In 1965 he transferred to the plant technical college Temirtau on specialty Ironmaking. On the basis of the department “Technology of Metal” in 1962, were organized as the new department “Manufacturing Engineering and Technology of Welding.” Chair of Foundry and metal technology “until 1986 was headed by Professor E. Shevtsov. For many years he was also dean of the mountain, and then mechanical-technological faculties.
Growth in demand for engineering personnel for engineering stimulated the need to expand the institute, bringing it new teachers. In 1963-1965. Department staff has expanded the group of young specialists – graduates of the department, as well as the Moscow Institute of Steel, the Moscow Institute of Nonferrous Metals, Dnepropetrovsk metallurgical, Odessa Polytechnic and others: MZ Esentai, TZ Zhukebaeva, IP Manzhurin, U.K. Kapzhapparov, BB Byhin, VA Villager, EA Arbuzov, EI Derjaguin, LS Kipnis, TI Podgainy, EB Ten (in the future, doctor of technical., Professor of ISI and C), ES Lodeyschikova, SI Lissitzky. Small manufacturing and life experiences of these young people are compensated for the enormous desire to teach and learn for yourself. Despite the poor living conditions (many live in dorms), they are due to the openness, friendliness, interest in the new, quickly won the confidence and the location of the students were able to awaken in them a real interest in mastering the profession. All of them in 1965-1970 years. took postgraduate studies at universities in Moscow and Leningrad and back to work at the department in the capacity of PhDs, assistant professors. Many of them work in the department to the present.
In 1966 was the first graduation of engineers specializing in foundry of ferrous and nonferrous metals. From its composition, SG Kanunnikova – now Associate Professor, Yixing D.K – Professor KarSTU for 4 years in Annabinsk University (Algeria), read lectures on technical subjects in French; Bishkenov K.B – Director of the Technical College in Balkhash, Gorst A.O was the head of the Department of foundry in Pavlodar Industrial Institute. Titov G.A, Arabadji A, Malyshev V, Boldyrev E.V,Shekhovtsov V.E became head of the workshops and technical services industries in the Pavlodar, Lipetsk, Bishkek, Almaty.
