In 2024, Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University achieved significant success in the field of scientific research, having received funding that exceeds 2 billion tenge for the first time. This amount includes various sources: business contracts, state budget, grant funding, program-targeted projects, as well as initiatives within the framework of the Zhas Galym programs and the competition for young scientists.
As part of business contractual activities, the University concluded 49 business contracts and implemented 46 innovative projects, which became a unique achievement for Abylkas Saginov KTU. Among the University major partners there are leading enterprises of the Karaganda region, such as: the Karmet JSC, the Kazakhmys LLP, the Shubarkol Komir LLP, the Zhairem MPP, the Maker LLP and others.
Such cooperation strengthens the scientific and technical ties of the region and contributes to the development of industrial enterprises through the introduction of innovations.
In addition, special attention was paid to grant funding and commercialization of scientific developments. In accordance with the message of the President and recommendations of the Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek, KTU for the first time this year submitted 6 large projects for grant funding in the field of commercialization with the total funding of 1 billion 759 million tenge. These projects are focused on the mining and metallurgical industry and transport. In addition, KTU scientists are involved in solving problems of developing the transport system of the region and cooperate in the implementation of a scientific project with the local executive body.
Previously, the University successfully implemented a project for the production of anti-corrosion coatings, which brought in a profit of 1 billion tenge in three years. These achievements confirm a high potential of the University scientists.
It should be noted that the University submitted 35 innovative projects for the grant funding competition for 2025-2027, which are currently undergoing examination. In addition, 17 projects were submitted within the framework of the Zhas Galym program, and 16 for the competition of young scientists. This demonstrates high research activities and the presence of powerful scientific potential.
The achievements of Abylkas Saginov KTU demonstrate a significant contribution of the faculty and scientists of the University. This not only strengthens the well-being of employees but also improves the image of the University among higher education institutions of Kazakhstan.
The current dynamics show that KTU will continue to strengthen its position in the scientific field in 2025. The University plans to participate actively in new programs and to expand cooperation with industrial enterprises of the region.
This success was made possible by the effective management, teamwork of the employees of A. Saginov Karaganda Technical University and the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
