Distance Educational Technologies

The organization of the educational process on distance learning technologies at NJSC “Karaganda Technical University named after Abylkas Saginov” under the undergraduate program is carried out in accordance with the Requirements for organizations of higher and (or) postgraduate education for the provision of distance learning, Approved by order of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated March 20 2015 No. 137.

The main tasks of organizing the educational process using distance learning technologies (DET) are the individualization of learning, the expansion of the educational environment, the creation of conditions for continuous education, the realization of the needs for educational services, the development of a single educational space.

The UNIVER Information System based on the Univer 2.0 system is used as the main tool for the implementation of DET in NJSC “Karaganda Technical University named after Abylkas Saginov”. (www.kstu.kz-Quick links – For students – AIS Univer).

The Univer 2.0 information system is focused on organizing interaction between a teacher and students and is intended for organizing distance courses. Digital learning resources (DERs) for distance learning are placed in the “Distance Courses” section and are attached by discipline in strict accordance with the working curriculum of the educational program.

The content of academic disciplines is determined by working curricula (syllabuses). In each CER, the sequence of studying by weeks is set in accordance with the Academic calendar, links to other educational materials are placed in the “EMCD” section.

The “Distance courses” section stores a portfolio of each student: all the works submitted by him, grades and comments of the teacher, personal messages. The technical capabilities of the “Journal of visits and progress” section allow the teacher to control the activity of students, the time of their study work, collect statistics on students (downloading them, completing homework, grading on tests), and posting material for further study.

After enrollment, the student is provided with network access to the necessary educational and methodological materials focused on independent study. Access is provided after registration and authorization on the server. Username and password are sent to students by email.

DET student:

  1. independently studies training courses;
  2. attends distance learning sessions in off-line mode;
  3. passes all types of control (current, intermediate) according to the Academic calendar of the university.
