A conference on innovation and professional development of educators was held at Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University


A large-scale conference was held at Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University, organized by the Kazakhstan Association of English Language Teachers (@kazaelt, @kazaelt_krg). The event brought together educators, researchers, and education specialists to discuss pressing issues related to teaching, professional development, and the application of artificial intelligence in education.

The conference began with participant registration, followed by a poster session where students from our university presented their work on STEM topics. The official opening of the event set the tone for the entire day, emphasizing the importance of an innovative approach to education. The opening speech of the conference was delivered by the Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and Digitalization of Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University, Timur Yerbolatovich Kanapyanov. In his address, he emphasized the crucial role of the university in the development of education in Kazakhstan, highlighting STU’s contribution to training highly qualified specialists and integrating advanced technologies into the educational process. Additionally, the Head of the Department of Foreign Languages, Associate Professor, PhD in Pedagogy, Damira Dulatovna Jantassova, delivered an inspiring speech, underscoring the importance of innovative teaching methods and international cooperation in the field of education.

The program included various thematic sessions covering key aspects of modern education: teaching methodology, lesson planning based on the CELTA framework, building a personal brand as an English teacher on social media, effective task distribution in teams, inclusive education and artificial intelligence, and teachers’ psychological well-being. Notably, faculty members of our university’s Department of Foreign Languages, A. E. Yerzhumanova and N. T. Issina, participated as speakers, presenting on “Task-based learning through generative AI” and “Enhancing students’ communicative skills through Project-Based Learning”.

One of the key highlights of the conference was the session “The Expert Exchange: From Questions to Solutions”, where participants had the opportunity to ask experts questions in three areas: teaching methodology, professional development and leadership in education, and entrepreneurship and the use of social media in teaching.

Participants noted the high level of organization and the relevance of the topics discussed, expressing hope for the continued development of educational initiatives. The conference served as an important platform for exchanging experiences and knowledge, contributing to the growth of the professional teaching community and the implementation of advanced educational technologies.
