British Council together with ‘National State Scientific and Technical Expertise Center’ JCS and ‘National Scientific and Technical Information Center’ JCS with the support of ‘Chevron’ company held national competition for young scientists in the format of the international competition FameLab. This competition is one of the largest competitions of scientific communication and is held in more than 20 countries in Europe, Asia and Africa.
The aim of the competition is to identify bright and talented young scientists and develop their skills of scientific communication in order to enable them to share their scientific interests with the public in English. Also the aim of the competition is to promote science among young people around the world.
In the first stage of the competition 10 finalists will be selected in Kazakhstan. Each finalist of FameLab will receive a guaranteed prize in the form of a master class in communication skills and speech in Astana from one of the foremost experts in the world of communications. At the master class, they will learn why it is important to communicate with the public, will gain invaluable presentation skills and work with mass-media and will have the opportunity to establish contacts with scientists from different areas of scientific research!
The winner of the national competition will visit the traditional science festival in Cheltenham (UK) and will take part in the FameLab international finals in June 2017.
Anyone aged 21 to 35 years old, working or studying in the field of technology, engineering, medicine, biology, chemistry, physics or mathematics can participate in the competition. To participate in the contest, it is necessary to submit an online application, which will be available on the British Council website https://www.britishcouncil.kz/ru/famelab from 1 November to 12 January 2017.
