The tournament was held by the decree of the Department for Youth Policy of the region, public associations “JARQYNBOLASHAQ” and “Karaganda Chess Federation” held this event to popularize chess among students of the region.
More than 100 students from 8 higher educational institutions took part in it. The tournament was held in two formats, online and offline. At the first stage, they played online and determined the best ones within their universities. 20 participants from 4 universities reached the final and identified the strongest chess players in the city. 1st place was taken by KTU students with a prize fund of 200 thousand tenge, 2nd place was the team of Karaganda Medical University – 150 thousand tenge, 3rd place was the team of KEU Kazpotrebsoyuz with a cash prize of 100 thousand tenge, 4th place was the Bolashaq college with a certificate in the amount of 50 thousand tenge. The winners were also awarded with gold medals in the individual competition.
