DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) joins all German universities and helps to develop academic relations abroad, especially through the exchange of students and scientists. DAAD offers a number of scholarship programs to do MSc, attending summer language courses and holding the researches.
My name is Aigerim. I am 4th year student of KSTU. I participated in DAAD program «Summer college courses” since 2009. My dream was to go to Germany to improve language skills and get acquainted closer with German culture.
In 2010 I did not win scholarship, but I got invitation for seminar «Deutsch lernen – Deutsch erleben» in Almaty. After seminar I was inspired to go farther and gave application in October, 2010 for scholarship in 2011. This year my dream and the same time my aim came true! I became owner of German Department of academic exchange for attendance of German language courses in Berlin. During August 1-26 I passed course of studying in Berlin Technical University. 160 students from different countries of the world took part in the courses. On the first day of the classes we wrote test for determination of the language level, then we divided to groups by levels. I passed to group with B1 level (average) with other 17 students. Classes were held from 9 to 13. After classes organizers of the courses held various entertaining events, such as: visiting of museums, cinemas, zoos, Olympic stadium, excursion to Reichstag, government, walking on foot to Berlin wall and walking around the city.DAAD scholarship was 1650 euro for Kazakh students, which include payment for airline ticket, living in the dormitory and language course itself. According to DAAD programme I got opportunity not only to improve my knowledge of German language , but also to get acquainted closer with German culture and sights of Berlin. Students of 2-3 courses can participate in DAAD programme “Summer university courses”. Students of technical specialties had to write composition by specialty, objectivation, to fill online application form and pass test for knowledge of the language (even entry level).
I want to express my gratitude to staff of International department of KSTU, who recommended me to participate in this programme and gave hope that in future I will owner of DAAD scholarship. I advice to all students of our university to learn foreign languages and to try yourself in various scholarship programmes.
