Biography:

She was born in the Karaganda region in the 6th of the June 1959.

Citizen of Kazakhstan.

In 1982 she graduated from Karaganda State University with a degree in Chemistry with a qualification in “Chemist. Teacher”. She graduated from the graduate school of the Chemical and Metallurgical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR with a degree in Nonferrous Metals Metallurgy in 1986.

She worked as an engineer at the Laboratory of Ion Exchange Processes of the Chemical and Metallurgical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR from 1978 to 1992.

She graduated from the Central Institute for Advanced Studies of Patents in the Field of Patent Work (Moscow), receiving the qualification of Patent Specialist in 1990.

She worked as a teacher in the preparatory department for foreign citizens at the Medical Institute from 1992 to 1996.

From 1996 to 2008, she worked at the Karaganda State Technical University as the scientific secretary of the educational and methodical association, associate professor of the department “Machines, foundry technology and construction materials” (2002-2008), scientific secretary of the university.

She defended her thesis for the degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences in the specialty “Metallurgy of non-ferrous and rare metals” in 1999.

She was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor in the specialty “Metallurgy” in 2005.

From 2008 to 2016, she worked at the Karaganda Scientific Research Institute of Industrial Safety of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Republic of Kazakhstan. She held the position of head of the laboratory of industrial safety expertise, deputy. Head of the Intersectoral Industrial Safety Expertise Division; Head of the Industrial Safety Expertise Department;

She has been head of the Nanotechnology and Metallurgy Department since
January 2017.

The main direction of scientific research Balbekova B.K. is the development of physical and chemical foundations for the extraction of rare earth elements from refractory raw materials and industrial wastes of enterprises in Kazakhstan.

She is the author of more than 120 scientific papers, including scientific articles in foreign journals with a non-zero impact factor from the list of Web of Science (Clarivate Analitycs) and Scopus; in scientific publications included in the list of ESMC MES of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as magazines included in citation databases of KazCB and RSCI, three monographs. He is a co-author of 2 textbooks with the stamp of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 2 textbooks recommended by the Republican Educational and Methodological Council, 22 study guides.

She participated in the 7th International Conference on Rare Earth, China (2013), XXXVI National Congress On Calorimetry, Thermal Analysis And Applied Thermodynamics, Italy (2016), and 5th Central and Eastern European Conference on Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry, Italy (2016).

She was awarded the title “Best University Teacher” by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2018.
