Improving the quality of higher education

Astana hosted the forum “Quality Assurance in Higher Education: state and prospects of development”, organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The forum was attended by Chairman of the Management Board – Rector of Karaganda Technical University named after Abylkas S. Sagintayev, Member of the Management Board – Vice–Rector for Science and Innovation A. Mehdiyev, Member of the Management Board – Vice-Rector for Social and Educational Work A. Kalykov and Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering A. Makasheva.

This forum is one of the important steps aimed at the development of higher education in Kazakhstan. I am particularly pleased that special attention is being paid to quality assurance issues. As a result of the close cooperation between the Ministry and higher education institutions, several important steps have been taken to improve the quality of education. Currently, the achievements in the QS rating, the progress of the digitalization process, and the improvement of the quality of scientific publications all play an important role in the sustainable development of the industry.

In addition, the new qualification requirements and types discussed at the forum, the effectiveness of accreditation and state control ensure that the education system meets international standards. The work and upcoming tasks outlined in the reports of Minister Sayasat Nurbek and Director of the Department of Higher and Postgraduate Education Adilet Toibayev will significantly improve the country’s education system.

Undoubtedly, taking into account and implementing proposals and opinions in this direction will not only improve the quality of higher education, but will also contribute to increasing the competitiveness of the country’s universities in the international arena. It is obvious that the effectiveness and constant attention of such forums will lead to positive changes in the development of higher education and science.
