From December 15 to 17, the prestigious Northern Eurasia Finals 2024 programming semi-final was held in four major cities – St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Astana and Tbilisi, which brought together more than 300 of the best student teams. This event was an important stage in the preparation of participants for the International ICPC (International Collegiate Programming Contest), one of the most famous and challenging programming contests in the world.
Astana IT University became one of the venues for the competition. 81 teams from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan competed in the capital of Kazakhstan. Among the participants there was the team of our university – STU 7, consisting of students Iliyas Myrzash, Alisher Mussabekov (SIB-23-13 group), Daulet Rakhmetov (SIB-23-12 group).
For the STU 7 team, participation in this competition was a significant step on their way to success. Earlier, in the 1/4 finals, our students have already shown excellent results, having received a diploma of the 3rd degree. In a highly competitive environment, they demonstrated a high level of knowledge, the ability to work in a team and solve the most complex algorithmic tasks.
The competitive tests during all three days not only tested the skills of the participants, but also became a real impetus for the professional growth of students. The participants noted that such events are an essential tool for developing programming skills, analytical thinking and the ability to work under stress. In addition, they had the opportunity to share experiences and establish contacts with students from different countries.
The opening of the event at Astana IT University was accompanied by speeches by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek, Rector of Astana IT University Askar Hikmetov, Regional Director of ICPC Bakhyt Matkarimov, as well as representatives of the general partner of the Sports Programming Federation – Freedom Holding Corp and Huawei.
We are proud of the success of our students and their dedication. Participation in such major competitions, of course, not only contributes to personal development, but also strengthens the reputation of our university in the international arena. We are confident that the STU 7 team has new victories and bright achievements in the world of programming ahead.
