The Department of Information Technology and Security begins its history in 1960. Then it was formed as the Department of Applied Mechanics. The first head was associate professor, Candidate of Technical Sciences. I.L. Derevinsky.
In 1972, the department was renamed “Lifting and transport installations and machine parts” (PTUiDM) and headed by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor L.M.Alotin. At this time, associate professors are working at the department: A.V. Ettel, P.B. Stepanov, V.S.Epov, V.G. Schneider, I.M.Alter, V.A.Im; teachers V.M.Babinets, N.S.Greil, V.P.Starostin, M.M.Lebedev, S.S.Tuboltseva, K.B.Bazhenova.
In 1978, the head of the department became Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, laureate of the USSR State Prize V.A. Brenner, known in the Soviet Union and abroad for his work on the research and creation of coal combines. It was the time of formation and development of the department as a highly organized scientific structure. State-funded and contractual scientific research is actively conducted at the department, two scientific directions are distinguished: “Functional and structural modeling and redundancy of mine cargo flows” and “Study of the stress-strain state of metal structures of mining and lifting and transport machines”. In the 1970s and 80s, teachers and graduate students of the department: V.M. Babinets, V.P. Starostin, M.M. Lebedev, S.S. Tuboltseva, K.B. Bazhenova, V.M. Zherebtsov defended their PhD theses, and associate professor II.B. Stepanov in 1984 defended his doctoral dissertation.
In 1981, the department was headed by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor P.B. Stepanov, who made a great contribution to its development and subsequent formation. The scientific research of the PhD theses defended in 1981-1985 by E.P. Berezin, E.M. Yurkovich, S.I. Bogodukhov and A.B. Bayer is related to the issue of functional modeling of excavation and transport machines and their subsystems in mining. These works required the processing of large amounts of scientific and technical information and the widespread use of computer technology and computer technology, which led to the idea of training CAD specialists.
In this regard, in 1986, the Department of “Fundamentals of Computer-aided Design of Machines and Machine Systems” (OAPMiSM) was established on the basis of the Department of Technical Technical Management and for the first time in Kazakhstan, the specialty “Computer-aided Design Systems” (CAD) was opened. To form a new department, the following were invited: V.A. Hegai, S.I.Khan, S.A. Negoda, L.P. Sweetheart, E.G. An, A.A. Gatsuts, etc. Scientific work is actively underway, the department is equipped with the latest computer technology, and connections with scientific centers and universities of the country are expanding. Graduates of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University come to the department: M.R. Nurguzhin, K.T. Ablezov, S.S. Akhmetov, who bring new ideas and scientific directions to the life of the department. PhD dissertations are defended by M.R. Nurguzhin, V.A. Hegai, K.T. Ablezov, S.I. Khan. All this generally contributed to the formation of a high level of teaching and high-quality training of system engineers.
In 1993, the Department of OAPMiSM was renamed the Department of Computer-aided Design Systems and became the official representative of the ANSYS SAE system in the Republic of Kazakhstan, a member of the International Association of Analytical Engineers in the field of Finite Element theory NAFEMS.
Since 2001, the department has been one of the first in Kazakhstan to train specialists in the field of information security.
Since 2010, teachers of the CAD Department have been participating in the international TEMPUS ERAMIS program. TEMPUS ERAMIS is the creation of a network of universities in the Eurasian educational space, including in Kazakhstan, under the master’s program “Computer Science as a second competence”, which will increase student mobility and improve the quality of training of specialists in demand in the labor market.
And since 2013, the department continues its history under the name “Information Technology and Security”. Currently, qualified specialists work at the department: d.t.s., Professor V.V.Yavorsky, k.p.s., Associate Professor M.M.Kokkoz, k.t.s., Associate Professor S.H.Yesenbaev, Acting Professor G.T.Danenova, k.t.s., Associate Professor K.K.Mendikenov, Acting Associate Professor, PHD A.Z.Bigalieva, J.Sailaukyzy, B.Rysbekkyzy, as well as more than 30 teachers and senior teachers. The ITB Department currently graduates bachelors in the following specialties:
- 6B06105 “Data Science”
- 6B06301 “Information Security Systems”
- 6B06104 “Computer Engineering and Software”
- 6B06302 “Network Security”
As well as undergraduates in the specialty:
