On September 6, in the Youth Palace “Zhastar Alemi”, a meeting of activists of the youth organization “Zhas Orda” of Abylkas Saginov KTU with Chairman of the Board, Rector S.S. Sagintayeva, Vice-Rector for Educational Work A.K. Kalykov, Vice-Rector for Scientific Work A.D. Mekhtiyev, and Head of the Commercialization Office R.R. Buzyakov was held.
At the meeting, the main tasks and plans of the youth organization activists for the academic year were outlined. At the same time, Saule Savetovna, emphasizing the leading role of the student body in all the work carried out with students, expressed a desire to shift its semantic load and focus on the development of youth initiative and involving students in more active participation in scientific activities.
“With the cultural and sports leisure of students, – she noted, – everything is fine. But we are preparing and educating the future technical elite of the country. And our graduates must be ready for the challenges of the times, which place ever higher demands on specialists in all sectors of the economy”.
A lot has already been done for this purpose by the state, the relevant Ministry, and the University management and faculty.
The number of educational grants and the size of student scholarships are increasing, international cooperation is developing, the connection between science and the real sector of the economy is strengthening. President of the Republic of Kazakhstan paid special attention to it in his latest Address to the People of Kazakhstan.
It is also encouraging that recently they have spared no expense in organizing various free courses for students to improve their educational level and competitiveness in the labor market.
But each student in turn should strive for the constant search and improvement of knowledge, respect work and desire to become the best in their chosen field of activity.
In the present day world, it is not natural resources that play the decisive role but advanced technologies and innovations in their processing and use. To meet the demands of the times, one cannot limit oneself only to the framework of educational programs. It is necessary to make the most of the time of study, in which a large role is given to the independent work of students. It is in the process of independent work that the educational material is better absorbed, the existing gaps in education are more clearly revealed, and an incentive to replenish the existing store of knowledge appears.
Vice-Rector for Research A.D. Mekhtiev shared interesting ideas and proposals with activists of the youth organization “Zhas Orda”. Using specific examples and his own teaching experience, he told which projects students had already successfully implemented, and which ones could be started today.
Vice-Rector for Educational Work A.K. Kalykov compared activists of the youth organization “Zhas Orda” to an icebreaker breaking through the ice:
“You are our personnel reserve, on whom we place great hopes. They look up to you, others follow your example, and you must be the initiators in all the large and small affairs of our native university”.
The final part of the meeting was devoted to answering students’ questions. Some of their requests, regarding additional parking spaces for personal vehicles or changing the class schedule due to inconvenient “windows”, were immediately denied. It is not possible to allocate additional parking spaces due to the limited territory adjacent to the University, and we will have to put up with the “windows” since the optimal version of the class schedule is selected automatically by computer. The other comments and suggestions were taken “on note” and appropriate measures will be taken on them.
Overall, a useful and constructive conversation took place that allowed the activists of “Zhas Orda” to better understand the essence of the tasks set before them, to enlist the support of the University management in the implementation of interesting projects.
