As part of the program of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan to attract foreign scientists, Karaganda Technical University invited Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Organic and Environmental Chemistry of the Institute of Chemistry of Tyumen State University (RF) I.V. Kulakov to the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies for consultations, scientific seminars, master classes, lectures to students, employees and teaching staff.
The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies carries out active international cooperation with TSU within the framework of the Agreement on the innovation and educational consortium “Corporate University”.
For the employees and teaching staff of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies there were given lectures on the topic: “What do I need to do to publish an article in Scopus/Web of Science rating journals? Basic tips and mistakes when presenting the material”.
Master classes were held at the Research Institute “New Materials” at KTU on methods of extraction, purification by means of recrystallization of betulin from plant raw materials, birch bark, as well as consultation and making synthesis of the betulin phosphorylation product. This was coordinated with the work plan of the grant project “Development of methods for the isolation of natural triterpenoids from plants and their chemical transformation in order to search for new biologically active substances”. The product of the condensation reaction of cytisine with 2,3-dibromopropylisothiocyanate was isolated and purified. Compounds were prepared for 1H and 13C NMR spectral and mass spectrometric studies.
Master classes on the use of standard ChemBioDraw chemical programs, the package of the program ACDLABS (ChemSketch, SpecManager, Name) and Xcalibur for analyzing and encoding the original files of NMR spectra and mass spectra were held for the staff of the CCT Department. The basic rules and principles of work on searching for structures of organic compounds and methods of obtaining in the database “Reaxys” are shown.
As a foreign scientific consultant of the 1st-year master student A.Yu. Mukhamedzhanov who is studying under the educational program “Chemical Technology of Organic Substances”, Professor V.I. Kulakov conducted work with him on the implementation of a master thesis on the topic: “Synthesis and biological activity of lupan triterpenoids”. The master student is familiar with the main approaches and problems in finding the needed information (literature review), classification of organic compounds and analysis of modern chemical databases when performing research and received advice on the main sections of the master thesis.
Within the framework of the Agreement on the innovation and educational consortium “Corporate University”, a joint online meeting of scientists of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies with the heads and scientists of TSU was held on the issues of future interaction and cooperation, academic mobility and internships of master students, employees and teaching staff of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies at TSU. The issues of writing joint proposals for grants of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation, publications in rating journals included in the foreign Scopus, WoS databases were touched upon.
