Karaganda Technical University has significantly improved its position in the international ranking QS EECA-2021


Karaganda Technical University has risen from 197th to 180th position in the annual ranking of higher educational institutions QS EECA-2021 (QS Emerging Europe and Central Asia University Rankings 2021).

Quacquarelli Symonds’ ratings are considered one of the most influential in the world, along with the Academic Ranking of World Universities and Times Higher Education World University.

The research was conducted among 400 universities in Eastern Europe, Central Europe, the CIS and the Baltic States, which is 50 more than last year, despite the problems in the education sector due to the pandemic COVID-19.

This ranking took into account followings: the ratio of the number of students to the teaching staff, the proportion of graduate teachers, the proportion of foreign teachers and foreign students, indicators of academic reputation, reputation among employers, number of publications per teacher, number of citations in scientific articles, degree of presence on the Internet and international co-authorship.

Work on the internationalization of the teaching staff and increasing the citation index of scientific articles are the priority directions of the university’s development.

The University is constantly working to strengthen relations with the business community. This is facilitated by joint research and innovation, career events, and practices. The partners of the university are the largest industrial enterprises not only of the Karaganda region, but also of the Republic of Kazakhstan as a whole.

Promotion of KTU positions in international rankings is the result of global competitiveness achieved during the transition to an innovative and entrepreneurial university.
