Academic degrees, titles, election to the Academy of Sciences and awards received by teaching staff and department staff
Associate Professor of Foreign Languages Department, PhD in Philology Bolat A.Zh. was awarded a letter of gratitude in honor of the 6th anniversary of the scientific society of women scientists and the scientific journal “Science.Women.Society”, as well as in honor of the publication of the encyclopedia “Famous Women Scientists of Kazakhstan” for her contribution to the development of the journal “Science.Women.Society” .
Associate Professor of Foreign Languages Department, PhD in Philology Zhakupova Sh.S. was awarded the “Patriots of Astana” medal and a 1st degree diploma as part of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Astana.
Participation in competitions for R&D funding
Teachers of Foreign Languages Department Toluspayeva D.Zh., Isina N.T. won a grant from Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University following the results of a competition of scientific projects for young scientists. Project on the topic “Organization of research activities of technical students through teaching business communication in English.” Implementation period – 1 year. The amount of financing – 500,000 tenge.
Results of scientific work on projects and contractions international cooperation
As part of the international academic mobility program Erasmus+Teaching Mobility, head of Foreign Languages Department Jantassova D.D. was sent to the Romanian-American University (Bucharest, Romania) to exchange experiences with university teachers, to teach the course “Intercultural Communication and Academic Collaboration” and to conduct joint research in the field of communications in management. Students at this university gained knowledge about developing communication strategies for establishing and maintaining successful cooperation in business management. The course was conducted from April 24 to April 28, 2023 (Order No. 286ls dated April 11, 2023)
In order to exchange experience, professional growth of teaching staff, and improve research activities, the Department of Foreign Languages actively cooperates with Tambov State Technical University. As part of the cooperation agreement with Tambov State Technical University, teachers of the Foreign Language Department prepared reports for publication for the VI International Scientific and Practical Conference “Teaching a Foreign Language in a Professional Context: Traditions, Innovations, Prospects,” which was held on the basis of Tambov State Technical University 12- May 13, 2023.
In addition, within the framework of a cooperation agreement with Tambov State Technical University, teachers of Foreign Languages and Professional Communication Department of TSTU prepared for publication reports on sectional sessions for the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Integration of Science, Education and Production – the Basis of the Implementation of Plan of the Nation “(Saginov Readings No. 15), which was held at Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University on June 16-17, 2023.
Work was also carried out at the invitation of a foreign scientist, associate professor of Nazarbayev University, Bridget Goodman as a speaker at the plenary session with a presentation on the topic “EMI in Multilingual Settings: STEM programs in Kazakhstan” at the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Integration of Science, Education and Production – the basis of the implementation of Plan of the Nation” (Saginov Readings No. 15), which was held on the basis of Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University on June 16-17, 2023.
Within the framework of the Partnership Program between Universities of the USA and Kazakhstan, and Universities of the USA and Central Asia (UniCEN), the head of Foreign Languages Department D.D. Jantassova took part in the seminar on research methodology “Advanced Research Methodology Workshop”, which was held in Almaty on June 9-10, 2023, organized by the American Council on International Cooperation (certificate available).

- Essay competition
In the period from March 1 to March 31, 2023, 1st year students of Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University, under the guidance of teachers of Foreign Languages Department, participated in the regional essay competition “My Alma Mater”, which was held by Foreign Languages Department of D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University as part of the celebration of the 65th anniversary of the university. In total, the participation of 24 students and 8 teachers of the Foreign Languages Department in the essay competition was confirmed.
The results of the competition, the purpose of which was to increase the motivation of students to study foreign languages and support students who speak English, as well as to reveal in students a sense of belonging to a university with more than half a century of history, were announced on Science Day on April 12. The award ceremony for the winners was held online, where all participating universities were involved. Dean of the Faculty of Humanities of D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University awarded students diplomas in several categories:
Student of group AiU-22-3 Andrey Gladkikh – diploma for “Convincing argumentation of the author’s position”, under the guidance of the teacher of Foreign Languages Department T.V. Pitirimova;
Student of group Arch-22-4 Tore Tomiris – diploma for “Best presentation of the topic”, under the guidance of the teacher of Foreign Languages Department Beiskhanova S.A.;
Student of group SIB-22-1 Akhmetzhanov Alikhan – diploma for “Creative approach to essay writing”, under the guidance of the teacher of Foreign Languages Department Nugumanova M.K.;
Student of group SIB-22-6 Kutsinas Darius – diploma for “Diversity, complexity and accuracy of grammatical structures”, under the guidance of the teacher of Foreign Languages Department Svich N.A.
And also, all participants were awarded diplomas of gratitude for their active participation in the competition.
- Presentation competition
From March 15 to April 5, 2023, Foreign Languages Department of the Federal State Funded Educational Institution of Higher Education “Kazan State Energy University” held the I All-Russian (with international participation) competition of multimedia presentations in a foreign language, dedicated to the celebration of the 55th anniversary of Kazan State Energy University, as well as Russian Federation Decade of Science and Technology on the theme “Achievements of high technologies in the modern world”. Goals and objectives of the competition:
- identifying and encouraging the most active and gifted students who have highly developed skills in developing presentations using digital technologies;
- development of digital competencies, confident and critical use of modern digital technologies by students in their activities.
- development of linguistic and information competence of students;
- development of students’ skills in working with competitive tasks, as one of the stages of preparation for professional activity;
- control of the level of development of communicative competence.
Students of Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University, under the guidance of teachers from Foreign Languages Department, also took part in the competition. Thus, 11 students took part in the competition under the scientific supervision of 6 teachers from the Foreign Languages Department:

From March 26 to April 5, 2023, the commission assessed competitive presentations. In total, the participation of 14 students was confirmed under the supervision of 6 teachers of the Foreign Languages Department
Based on the results of the presentation competition, 3 students were awarded diplomas of I, II and III degrees:
1st place – Khamze Adilbek Nurbekuly (group EE-20-1) under the scientific supervision of teacher Nurpeisova D.L.;
2nd place – Kirill Aleksandrovich Peresunko (group EE-20-3) under the scientific guidance of teacher Pitirimova T.V.;
3rd place – Zholtay Aknur (group ITM-20-1) under the scientific guidance of teacher Isina N.T.
The winners and runners-up were awarded electronic diplomas. All other participants in the competition were awarded certificates of participation, and the supervisors were awarded letters of gratitude in electronic form.
- Foreign language quiz
On April 12, 2023, students of Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University under the guidance of the teaching staff of Foreign Languages Department, took part in a quiz on the topic “Sport is part of our culture” in English, which was held on the basis of the Karaganda Medical University. The purpose of this event was to increase interest among students of the Karaganda region in learning English.
The quiz, where 5 teams consisting of university students from Karaganda took part, consisted of 4 stages. First of all, the teams came up with a name and slogan, where their creativity was assessed. Further, the teams talked about the Kazakh national games in English. The team of Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University spoke about the national game “Kyz Kuu”. The third stage was a quiz, where questions of varying complexity were presented on different topics, such as: “Grammar”, “Phraseological units”, “Idioms”. The final stage of the competition was the “Spelling Bee”, where team captains participated. At the end of the event, the jury summed up the results and awarded the participants with diplomas and memorable prizes.
The team from Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University included 5 students under the guidance of 3 teachers of Foreign Languages Department:

5) Tamabayev Timur – student of group S-22-3 (under the scientific guidance of Eruzhmanova A.B.)
The team of Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University took an honorable 3rd place and was awarded a certificate from the sponsoring company.
- Competition of research works of students, graduate students and young scientists
The Republican Competition of Student Research Works is held annually in natural, technical, social, humanitarian and economic sciences in universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The research competition is held in 3 stages:
— intra-university
— interuniversity
— final in the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan
For the competition, Student Research Works submit independently completed research works of students and Master students in priority areas of natural, technical, social, humanitarian and economic sciences.
The Republican research competition is held in 3 stages:
1) the first stage is intra-university;
2) the second stage – in basic universities
3) the third (final) stage – republican.
The competition was attended by 2 works of students under the guidance of teachers of Foreign Languages Department:
1) “Neologisms in modern English and Kazakh languages” student of group E-22-2 Mukan Ayazhan Kairatkyzy under the scientific guidance of teacher Toluspayeva D.Zh.
2). “Tekhnikalyk zhogary oku oryndarynda shetel tіlіn okytu kasіptіk bіlіm berudіn azhyramas bolіgі” student of group IS-22-1sk Abilpeisova M.B. under the scientific guidance of teacher Zhaksybayeva A.M.
Having examined the students’ scientific works, the competition commission of the third (republican) stage decided to nominate for the award the student of Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University Abilpeisova M.B. for scientific work on the topic “Tekhnikalyk zhogary oku oryndarynda shetel tіlіn okytu kasіptіk bіlіm berudіn azhyramas bolіgі” (supervisor: MEd, teacher Zhaksybayeva Asel Maralovna) with a diploma of the III degree.
Other scientific information
- Aitbayeva S.Kh. completed a 72-hour advanced training course “Scientific Research Methodology”, which was conducted on the basis of Buketov Karaganda University (20/02/2023-04/03/2023).
- Karimova G.K. took part in the scientific discussion “Harassment in education: concept, interpretation, boundaries” within the framework of the international scientific and educational project “Bilim zhane Bolashak” (27/05/2023).
- Jantassova D.D. took part in a seminar on research methodology within the framework of the Partnership between Universities of the USA and Kazakhstan, and Universities of the USA and Central Asia (UniCEN), which was held in Almaty on June 9-10, 2023.
