On December 20, the solemn ceremony of awarding the winners of XV National Internet award AWARD.kz was held. According to the results of website users and the decision of the jury of competition, our University’s website was awarded the Diploma and People’s Choice Award statuette.
National Internet award AWARD.kz is the contest of websites of KazNet. The award originated in 1999. The first competition of the KazNet websites, under the title of “Best web page”, was initiated by web-group Nursat. The aim of the competition was the search of talented web designers and programmers for Nursat company. The idea was picked up by the company Iteca. To stimulate development of the Kazakhstan Internet, Iteca has organised and held a competition in 2000 — 2001 under the title “Best site of KITEL”.
The name “AWARD.kz” was first mentioned in 2002, when organizers of the competition was the Association of several companies and individuals.
In 2006, “Glatis” Studio created an Award logo, which is used up to present. AWARD.kz seeks to promote the development of Internet in Kazakhstan by its actitivity.
By 2007, a sustainable team of the Organizing Committee was formed, the Public Fund “National Internet award AWARD.kz” was registered by its forces, and the competition is conducted by this non-profit organization since present days.
Every year competition reveals the best websites, estimating quality of information, design and technical execution of Internet resources.
The competition runs in two rounds. The first round of the competition this year was held from 29 May to 15 October 2017: during this period, applications from the owners and developers of Internet resources, national experts were accepted. In the second round, held from October 20 to December 1 last year, the projects were assessed by the international jury. This year, 108 websites and 10 mobile applications passed to the second final round out of 273 applications. General sponsor of the anniversary 15 award was National ICT holding Zerde JSC and the international Technopark IT-startups Astana_Hub.
The names of the best ones were announced on December 20 in Almaty. The results of the competition can be found here https://award.kz/about.
