On 6 November 2017, a meeting of students and teachers of Karaganda State Technical University with the participants of the expedition “Alash-Zholy” dedicated to 100th anniversary of Alash autonomy establishment was held in the room No.207 in the first building of KSTU.
The route of the expedition ran through the key points: Semey, Astana and Karaganda. In Semey, the participants of the expedition visited the part called “Alash kala” and met with the descendants of Alash Orda leaders, and in the camps “ALZHIR” (Akmola camp of wives of traitors of the Motherland) and Karlag in Karaganda and Astana honored the memory of victims of political repressions and totalitarianism. The next stage of the expedition were Zhezkazgan and Bayanaul. The aim of the expedition is to collect materials for a documentary about the movement of Alash Orda and its participants. Precondition to visit these places, according to participants of the expedition, was the fact that there are a large number of historical monuments, and there lived and worked a large number of prominent historical figures. The following participants of the expedition delivered speeches: Director of National heritage enterprises, ethnographer, journalist, doctoral candidate of the Institute of Oriental studies R.B. Suleimenova Arman Aubakir, President of the International Public Foundation “Legacy of nomadic civilization”, ethnographer, specialist in Turkic Philology, nomadist, Director of the magazine “Nomads of the great steppe” — Batyrzhan Seidomar, project coordinator Daiyr Kydyrgaliuly. The event was moderated by senior lecturer of the Department of history of Kazakhstan Aidar Otarbekovich Zhetpissbayev.
The expedition participants expressed their sincere appreciation to the administration and teaching staff of KSTU for organizing this meeting and assisting in the implementation of projects of National-Ethnographic Association “Adyrna”, in particular, for facilitating this expedition, “Alash Zholy” to the 100th anniversary of the formation of the government “Alash Orda”, within the programme of the Head of the nation “Looking to the future: the modernization of public consciousness”. Daiyr Kydyrgaliuly recalled that during three years Day of Turkic writing has been held. It says that Karaganda State Technical University pays much attention to ideological-moral and patriotic education of its students and instilling them the true spiritual values.
