Advanced training of KSTU faculty in the field of multilingual education


In order to implement the Concept of multilingual education of KSTU from February 20 to 12 June 2017, 41 teachers of main departments passed the 5-month advanced training course “English Language for Specific purposes” organized by the Center for International cooperation and academic mobility. Lecturer of the course was American specialist Taryn Ann O’Haily, MA in TESOL, who works on “English Language Fellow” program of the U.S. Embassy in Kazakhstan and has extensive experience in modern methods of teaching English as a foreign language.
20 June 2017, solemn presentation of certificates on successful completion of this course, aimed at the development of pedagogical skills in the teaching of special subjects in English was held. Vice-rector for strategic development, professor Zhetessova Gulnara Santayevna, delivered a speech, noting the high quality of training with the use of effective methods and innovative strategies, as well as the high interest of teachers in teaching professional English. She stressed that the Centre has carried out extensive work on the development of this program, the result of which was a grant to the foreign teacher for the next academic year. Teacher from America Benjamin Taylor, Master’s International TESOL Program, will lead classes at the master’s and doctoral studies and courses of improvement of qualification of the teaching staff of the University.
The ceremony of handing the certificates of completion was held in a friendly atmosphere, Taryn Ann O’Haily was presented with gifts and many kind words were said in gratitude.
