VIII International Congress of blast-furnace men ‘Metallurgy of cast iron – the challenges of the XXI century’ was held recently at the National Research Technological University ‘Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys’.
The purpose of the event is acquaintance with the main tendencies of development of the blast furnace in the world, innovative technologies of blast-furnace smelting and processes of the preparation of iron ore raw materials, modern methods of control and management of technological processes, problems of preparation of experts – metallurgists.
The Congress was attended by scientists and representatives of metallurgical production and management from Russia, Kazakhstan, Germany, China, Austria, Finland, Czech Republic. The President MISiS, Yu.S. Karabasov, President of ‘Metprom’ CG Lazutkin S.S., Vice-President of ‘Russian Steel’ Mishin Yu.P., the main blast furnace man of ‘NLMK’ PJSC Kurunov I.F. and others spoke at the meeting.
The work of the Congress was implemented by activity of 9 sessions, more than 200 reports were presented.
The Republic of Kazakhstan was presented by researchers from Karaganda State Technical University and Zh.Abishev Chemical-metallurgical Institute.
Professor, Ph.D, Sarekenov K.Z., who introduced a new textbook ‘Computer modeling of blast furnace processes’ by Gazaliyev M.A., Sarekenov K.Z., Akberdin A.A., published in Russian, Kazakh and English languages spoke at the session.
Associate Professor of the department ‘Nanotechnology and metallurgy’ Kwon S.S. delivered a report ‘Experience of training specialists in the field of metallurgy in the framework of the State program of industrialization’.
During the Congress, the visit to the exhibition ‘Metal-Expo’, which presented the newest equipment for the metallurgical and metalworking plants was organized as well.
Participation of the Kazakhstan scientists in the Congress is a clear recognition of the national scientific and metallurgical school and the importance of metallurgical industry in Kazakhstan for the development of EurAsEC, and contribution of KSTU to the realization of SPIID-2 as well.
